Beautifully combining science fiction, history and prehistory, this is the diary of Henrietta Gray, a teenager during the first World War, who discovers her father's time machine and uses it to travel to the time of dinosaurs. As the title suggests, this is more a collection of observations than a novel; but this should in no way diminish its appeal. The attention to detail is marvellous, with stunning illustrations and plenty of notes; not to mention Miss Gray's authentically elegant language. read more »
